how often do you buy a new bathing suit?

If you are 40ish how the heck can you find a bathing suit that has proper support (after having babies especially) that doesn't look like your grandma's bathing suit .........

I personally don't fit the description, but some of my friends' moms that are in their mdi-40s have had some really cute bathing suits which fit them properly and give them the support they need. Most of them have been from the The Bay. I don't remember the name exactly, but it was something along the lines of Christine/Christina. They have cute patterns (not grandma-ish) and the support looks great. I hope that helps

well I have had some luck with the Christine ones, but not often.
I'm a 34 DD so that's the biggest issue (no pun intended)
Specialty ones are super expensive.

If you like to do online shopping you can go to www.landsend.com and they have some cute suits as well. You can even get a virtual model in your exact height, weight, coloring....! Its pretty cool and I am sure I saw some nice suits with lots of support.

Being way too old to wear a bathing suit, but also wanting to swim and not wanting to look like a beached whale, my solution is usually shorts & a T-shirt! A really well-fitting one piece suit is the ideal, but they really are expensive. If you are just at the beach, which is very casual, you can get away with the short/shirt thing, but if you are at a swimming pool it will probably cost and I don't think there is a way around that. Other than that, make do for the summer & buy a great swimsuit when they go on sale in the Fall.

No such thing as being too old to wear a bathing suit-just too self-conscious.
I'm over 50 and just no longer care what anyone thinks of my body, so I still swim naked in my swimming pool quite often. Anyone doesn't like what they see doen't have to look.

I have an expensive bathing suit but my favorite one right now is one I got at Walmart last year. It has a little matching cover-up skirt that you can wear in the water if you're shy, is very flattering, and cost less than $30 for both pieces.

Dewcat! We have our own pool as well so I usually end up buying at least one, usually 2 or 3 suits a year. I have also had good luck at Walmart, especially their "seperates", where you buy tops seperate from bottoms. I find this way I can find a top with good support and then choose a bottom style. I ahppen to like the "boy shorts". The key is that you need to go now, as their bathing suits have already been out for a couple of weeks.

I buy them also....cuz i have such a big butt and tights...i wear them with my bathing suit! which i might add i should change because the only other reason i wear shorts with them is because i have a see-through bottom bathing suit now since it has been 4 years that i havent changed it!

I have found, though I hate to say it - especially on this site - the quality of a more expensive bathing suit is always worth it. My favourite one I think I paid about $120 for, it was by a small designer at a local independent fashion shop.

Christina does make decent bathing suits if you are looking for 'body tamers'...

Personally I only wear bikinis - I don't give a damn what anyone thinks! I think I look sexy and that's what counts! Slap on the self-tanner, shave the legs and walk tall, who cares what anyone thinks but you!

I bought a really great competition type suit at "The Bay" They are normally pretty expensive and I bought board short that match. These suits offer lots of support I paid about $40.00 2 weeks ago, they are normally over $100.00. Yes I got an amazing deal it was a colour from last year. But I didn't really care. I also have a great wrap around skirt for after swim as well. I use to be pretty aware of my breasts and their size, but all the girls seem to be bigger these days! haha!

I've been wearing the same suit for about 4 or 5 years now, I just bought a new one (another tankini) at Sears (for $30!) My old one is/was a tankini & cost $29 each piece.

I think the main reason that my suit has lasted this long & still is in good shape is that it's only seen a chlorine pool about 5 times, usually I swim at the cottage so I don't have to worry about the chemicals eating up the fabric.

I could probably get away with wearing my old suit for another year or two but since we've won the stay at Kilarney Mountain Lodge I talked myself into buying a new suit...& pareo, cover up tunic, flip flops & towel!
