Someone signed me up for one and about 6 months after my daughter was born a lady came to the door with a basket of stuff, magnetic picture frame, plastic bib and mostly coupons for baby related stuff. I got a million calls from RESP people and scholarship funds and photographers! Still fielding calls 4 months later. I almost wouldn't say it's worth it, the stuff ya get is pretty cheap and cheezy, but I did get a cool newest citizen certificate signed by our mayor which i framed.. : )

Hi Ash, I signed up my name about 3 weeks ago on behalf of the mother. I haven't received any contact from them yet, although I have heard that they do make a house visit.

I'm not sure if they'll let me do it for someone else though, if they don't then I'll have to check with the mother and see if she wants me to sign her up, but I doubt she wants welcome wagon people at her door.

It also depends if they have a rep in the area, I don't think Welcome Wagon has reps all over the place.

Thats all I know about it.

I signed up for this just a few weeks ago. I got an email that was an invite to a baby shower in Winnipeg (which is the closest to me) but its a 4hr drive from here and the date it was scheduled on is too close to my due date so I just emailed them back and politely told them I wouldnt be able to make it. I havent had any phone calls or visits from them.

I think you're right on the big baby shower gizmo. Okay, I won't be going.

one other note re the welcome wagon showers and companies involved through the basket of products delivery, they will hound you forever and ever even if you say no at first. we were hounded over 6 months - we have call display and now don't pick up as we recognize the numbers now.
