Does anyone know the legalities on this?

you know if you get just gift certificates..and they have no name on them..( which usually the do not! )..why not just sell them to someone else for a reduced price..that way they get a good deal and you get some cash flow....a thought for you..

"not transferable" just means that they wouldn't have given them to anyone on your behalf eg. i won a trip, i cant send my brother instead.

I have sold many of my winnings, including recently, a stroller I won worth $460 I sold to a very happy buyer for $200. Some people may not think this is ethical, but you know what? Its YOUR prize for you to do what ever suits you! The $200 helped me pay my rent. I have also "traded in" CDs/DVDs I have won at the used CD store and got credit to put towards ones I want. Anyone who argues this with you is probably just a bit envious that they didn't win.

I would try ebay, or posting on message groups.

Does the store only sell grocery items? Some grocery stores in my area sell TVs, outdoor furniture, DVD players, BBqs etc and lots of other bigger ticket items.

Good luck to you.

are the coupons just food ones or just plain co-op store ones?

Supposedly for CO-op marketplace and Federated CO-op stores.

I do have a co-op gas staion 10 mins away in Guelph. Maybe I could use them for the Gas....

Noy sure yet.. It's driving me nuts.

If a contest isn't going to be worth it in the long run, I don't bother entering.
If the rules said that you would recieve a cheque instead of the grocery certificates then I could justify entering. I know there are co/ops in my area but if I was unsure I would do a quick search to see where the nearest one was.

I don't think we are jealous, I just think we don't understand why anyone would try to win something they don't want/can't use?
I don't enter contests for CD's I don't like or for baby stuff when I could be spending my time entering contests that have prizes that I want. The same goes for freebies, if I wouldn't use it I won't ask for it just because I can get it for free.

Good Luck Everyone!

Point taken. But there are very few things that someone in my family couldn't use as a gift, and if as a last resort I need to sell something, then my "prize" is now a deduction from my rent. I make ends meet the best way I can.

Freebies are a different issue. I do not bother to order freebies that will not be used.

Can you believe we've filled up 27 pages with wins since Christmas? Somebody (not me!) has been so lucky that this poor thread is getting too fat and has to be closed.
Don't worry, though, here's a new thread, ready to be filled:
