LG 2005 DVD Products DivX Certified

LG LDA-530 Progressive Scan DiVX Compatible DVD Player $90 at FS. Anyone know anything about this machine and how it stacks up against the Philips DVP642?

It seems that all of LG's new DVD devices have DivX/Xvid capability. Is the rest of the industry about to follow suit?

Some say it'll do QPEL - some say it won't. I don't know to be honest.

Region hack, proper pal/ntsc conversion, there's a HD 1080i verions of it on the market under a different model number, Better remote than 642, flimsier tray.

If you don't have a 642 this looks a bit better. If you do I don't think it warrents upgrading esp b/c (as you note) more models are arriving with divx (brand name and generic) and these units will have break out features like USB inputs and NES game rom support.

Thanks NG. I don't. I forgot to take my 627 back to Wal-Mart before the 1-year warranty expired and they shortened the warranty period

Right now I'm watching DivX movies on my Dell 2001FP LCD. That's surprisingly good and it lets me delay getting a DivX player and LCD TV for a while.

Just found out that apprently this'll do QPEL fwiw
