For a quick temporary fix...sunflowers work great!! Easy to grow and depending how tall you want, any size is available.....and in the fall/winter birds can eat them if you leave them there until spring. You could plant a row that is 4 wide for xtra privacy.

Lilacs grow fast for a hedge also if they have adequate water and sunlight.
Certain kinds of blue spruce grow fast for a year round privacy.

Those are some i can think of off the top of my pointy head..hope this helps.

Shop at Chapters.Indigo.ca for Great Savings!

if you buy them from a nursery (annuals) they all grow very quickly when planted into the ground. i bought a wildseed mixture (butterfly mixture) a few years ago to plant a flowerbed and i must say it was/is fantastic as it gets better and better every year ...there are annuals and perinnals in the pkg and most of the annuals self seed so you never have to replant if you don't want to....i had sunflowers, cosmos(they grow quickly) batchelor buttons, sweetwilliams, blackeyed susans, oh gosh so many nice flowers i can't even remember them now. not all wildseeds are good thou...you have to read the pkg to see what kind of flowers are in there because some can become a real problem if you don't control them.
