I have a couple of VCD's a friend burnt for me, with what he says uses the X-Video codec for Windows Media Player. I have been unsuccessful in finding or installing this codec. Can anyone shed any light on this codec?

I found a codec, but no sound. Anyone have any ideas?

That is where I got my xvid codec, and it worked fine for me.

Loaded the codecs, played the movie, and the opening credits were upside down and backwards!

Very strange. I have never heard of that happening before. Do you have all of the recent codecs for Media Player? I don't know what else to suggest other than that...

Had something to do with bicubic resampling. Found this out on one of the dvd forums out there.

And, didn't have the AC3 codec loaded for the missing sound. I'm slowly getting there...

I've got ffdshow and it seems to work. My previous xvid codecs didn't work for me. Try this via this site:

I had the same problems too awhile ago.

The Nimo video pack has everything you'd need for viewing files and fixed my problems.
