Can anyone recommend a 3 megpixel or higher digital camera with AA batteries and most importantly, a date imprint feature? I need this for work. Each picture must be imprinted with a date. 3X optical, compact, point and shoot models preferred. Thanks.

Any camera with an LCD display isn't going to go very far with alkaline AA batteries.

If you mean rechargables, most digicams nowadays support AA rechargables -- pretty hard to find ones that don't.

Most have the date imprint too. All Kodaks do.

Currently, I am using a Nikon Coolpix 3 megapixel. It has the date imprint feature. Tried a Canon Axx (xx = forgot which model number), it supports date imprint via software or when printing only. I want the date imprinted on the picture itself (when I take the picture)....not added later via software or other methods. Based on my past searches, this is not common with digital cameras.

AA are only a preference since I have quite a few AA NiMH rechargeable batteries. A lot of the more compact models now have proprietary batteries.

As mentioned, Kodaks imprint the date when creating the photo - as part of the photo. So if you print, or view the photo with any image viewer, the date will appear on the bottom right of the picture. As you probably know, the date and lots of other information is stored in the jpg file, and it can be displayed by a image viewer that can read EXIF data.

As for the AA batteries - I think all the Kodak CX models, and many of the new Kodak Z series camera use them - however the lithium ones last much longer per charge than NiMH. I've taken 200+ photos including many with the flash and the LCD on without the battery low indicator coming on.

Thanks. After further research, a number of the Kodak models do indeed have the capability to date imprint and use AA batteries. Not many other brands have the date imprint feature except for some of the Minolta Dimage models.

My HP photosmart allows me to set whether I want the date on the pic or not.

I'm using an HP r707 5.1Mpix digital camera.

it has a lithium-ion battery (much longer lasting than AA, and the camera comes with the AC adapter for charging), but does have the date imprint option

and it was only $279 at staples.

Picked up the HP Photosmart R707 from Staples today. Got the R-series docking unit (with extra battery) and a 512MB Verbatim SD card.
