Could anyone suggest a cheap or better free web hosting that allows .shtml extensions or even without that?

I'm at 1and1.com. It is US, but at U$5/month and includes a domain name, it beats anything Canadian that I've stumbled across (that is not ad supported).

They even have an affiliate program.
