Just curious how many of us are currently pregnant or have new babies at home? If we know then we might be able to email each other. A lot of times we don't know it and people we "talk " to everyday online could be in the same situation as we are.

I am currently 5 1/2 Months Pregnant with Baby #2 and that Is why I am wondering who else out there in the bowl is in the same situation. My son will be 8 and a half years older then the new baby and I am wondering how on earth he is going to handle not being the only one. I am not saying he is spoiled but he has never had to compete for attention or affection in any way. Anyone else have kids with quite a gap in age? How is that working out for ya? I need to know what to expect.

I have two children. A girl who is 11 soon to be 12 and a monster in disguise as a boy who is 5. So there is a 6 year difference. It was all pretty good, no complaints really and I think that's because she was a girl and really into the whole little mommy thing. I don't know how a boy would react but if you start explaining things now and finding jobs he can do to help you when the baby comes it might make the transistion a little easier. Plus you can also get him involved with the name picking and the colours for the baby's room. It might help if he feels like he is an important part in all this too, and that the baby will need to learn from him as well as from mom and dad.

Congrats!

My girls are 17 , 15, 11 and the baby will be 2 in December. So my last two are same as yours will be.
I was worried about my then 9 year old adjusting. She did really well. I couldn't ask for any better. She plays with and helps look after her new sister like nobody's business. She'll get her up and change her diaper without my asking. When she walks in the room my baby's eyes just light up. That says it all.

Three things that really worked for us:
First. I made my 9 year old part of my team. I really helped her to bond with her new sister by making her hold her a lot right from the start and help take care of her. She really liked to teach the baby new things in that busy first year. Like new words and how to hold a spoon and silly/ fun stuff.

Second. I made sure I told her how proud I was of her. That I knew it wasn't easy to adjust and that she was awesome.
(I made sure she heard me tell friends/family that the baby was lucky to have such a great big sister)

Thirdly. I explained to her at the very start that I wouldn't have as much one on one time for her in that first year (nursing, lack of sleep..TRYING to get some housework done, dealing with two teens ...) but that it wouldn't be forever. Soon enough the baby wouldn't be quite as much work and I'd be my old self again. Whatever that was

DENISE!!You are right on the ball. I couldn't of said it better. I have 6 children. Ages 13,11,9,7,5,18months,and I am 6.5 months pregnant.
I have found that all my children(luckily)adjusted well.With my youngest in line I have always found that when I tell them that they were little just like the baby...I did these things for them too. I feel that lots of hugs and kisses....and real conversations can make a big difference in how the child adjusts to most situation.

Good Luck Radeon...I am sure you will do great and I am sure your 8yr old will adjust fine. Do what works and stick with it!!!

My job (receptionist at a motel) is pretty non-dull too. lol

Our house is pretty lively! The best thing to me about having so many babies is looking at them when they have grown into 'kids' and realizing 'hey!I am doing a good job!' I like to keep our home atmosphere light and happy and it makes it fun to come home to after a long day of work.

Good for you redneck! Its great when you can reap the rewards of your parenting and enjoy your family. And well, when you get compliments on how nice or great your kids are, that just takes the cake!!! I imagine any celebrations you have must be just great with such a large family.

I was just thinking about starting a thread about this very topic when I found this one.

A thread to discuss problems, is it normal, or things that babies need. I know their are some things that I bought while pregnant that we haven't really used (travel system) and some things we couldn't live without (baby carrier, boppy, and swing). Cloth or disposable (cloth), breastfeeding or formula (breastfeeding) it would nice to get tips from people who have already gone through things.

Boy or girl?

Well I have a 7 Month old baby girl her name is ashley my first baby .. I have been so busy and I try and make sure I can get and do everything for her ..she dont like to sleep going crazy ..ashley naps 5 min here 5 min there what ever she feels like to do .. sad eh ? I have tryed to change her b ut it no work out to well at all sleep would be good hehehe well it was a long labor with my daughter 19 and half hours no drugs at all I did it all natural but I was 3 weeks over due for her and it was so nice not o be preggo no more ..but my hubby and myself are trying for baby number 2 hehehe ..

Well I am happy for all the mommys to be and new mothers .. Babys are suck a BIG blessing

Baby girl, her name is Georgia.

I had a nice short labour of 6 hours and like chrissy_pooh 4 it was a natural labour.

Although I will have to admit 6 hours of natural labour is much easier than 19

I am about to have a baby, in 6 weeks or less

I too am expecting....I am being induced in 3 weeks (if I can hold out)...this will be our fourth child. After 8 ultrasounds, countless bloodwork,weekly appointments for 4 months ,they informed us last week that our baby has Hydrocephalus (water on the brain)...they've told us that our baby girl will have some type of disabilty but it is not known as to what extent it will be yet, there are many possibilities.....
She will need surgery but it will be delayed unless there are immediate complications.
My husband and I have been going through the motions trying to cope...we have so much to prepare for and so so little time...we just keep telling each other that we'll play the cards as they are dealt...There are far too many "ifs" and not nearly enough answers.
