Well i checked out all the pawn shops in Kamloops, and i think all the criminals are keeping the TV's to themselves.

I did end up ordering the Panasonic 42" HD Plasma TV TH42PX75. From the Brick for 1759.00 plus tax (comes to 1987.67). The new Sony Bravia XBR is a very beautiful TV however, I can now get the Shaw HD PRV with what i saved on this TV.

Thank you Dave for all your help, i may be asking for your help again when it comes to getting a new surround sound system if you have the knowledge.

Congrats, Radish. $2000 is a great deal for this year's model. Remember to calibrate your TV immediately and after 100 or 150 hours of use. TV calibration should be done with either AVIA or Digital Video Essentials DVD. DVE has a new HD version available.

Even using a THX DVD like Star Wars 2 to calibrate is better than doing nothing.

You know Dave, that at one point i thought i knew a little about electronics..........but now I realize i know buttkiss (nada, zero, zilch). I have never even heard of calibration of a TV. I have no clue! How do i calibrate a TV i am so lost.

Basically, calibrating your TV is just "optimizing" the settings to allow you to watch TV at it's best. Most TVs out of the factory are not properly set. TVs in most stores are often set to "sell" the TV....very bright colours and full on brightness. If the settings are left as such, the lifecycle of the TV set is much reduced.

I suggest that you follow the instructions of the URL above as soon as you can. Then once again after 100-150 hours of use. It usually takes 100-150 hours for a TV panel to generally stabilize....some more, some less. This is a general guideline for TVs, not specific to LCDs or plasmas since they are fairly new technology.

Professional ISF calibrations would typically cost several hundred of dollars using colour analyzers and such.....these types of calibrations are generally for those who demand perfection from their TVs.
