I have been talking online with a guy for about four months. In the beginning we spent a lot of time getting to know each other and always planned our next time to chat…he’s on EST and works crazy hours. Our conversations are always fun and I really like him....but now that we talk almost everyday I’m getting the feeling that he is at a stage where he's getting tired of me. He has so many other friends that he chats with online and I'm worried that I'm not good enough now.
How do I get our friendship back??

Sad

I discovered a long time ago that online friendships were strictly virtual - nothing more, nothing less. I suggest you move on and not worry about getting back this "friendship". Nothing virtual is especially real. Up close and personal - now THAT'S real!

I'd love to get up close and personal with this guy!!! but thanks for the advice....time to move on and if he wants to talk he knows where he can find me.

Online friendships can really suck!

Atleast someone said something.....pet peeve.......when everyone looks but doesn't comment!!!!

It's nice to have such caring fishie friends who can say such kind and thoughtful words when you are feeling down!!

I've read other comments by milksopwhiner and I'm glad nothing mean or dirty was said here cause I'm upset about this and don't need to feel any worse.

Why would I say anything mean and dirty? There's nothing about your post that would invite such behaviour. That said, I am always to ready, eilling and able to say something mean and dirty on request - even with respect to this topic. Perhaps it would cheer you up.

People come into our lives for a reason, season, or life. No one knows what its gonna be or for how long so enjoy the time you have together. Having said that it sucks to lose a friendship and makes you feel like you wasted time and energy on something that didn't last. However, I think milksopwhiner said it best with:

Nothing virtual is especially real. Up close and personal - now THAT'S real!

I don't feel like I wasted my time with this guy, we still talk but it isn't like it was in the beginning. I'm just taking it convo by convo and where it leads me....closer or farther to him, I'm willing to take that chance!

I'm glad I swam around and found this place, you folks are awesome, thanks for taking the time to reply!!!

It's true that online friendships are not the same as real life, but when you've been talking to the same person online everyday for a while you do get to know them (sometimes it's easier to be real with these people). It is still a friendship and it still hurts to lose that friendship.Anyway,I just wanted to say I hope it works out for you one way or another. Maybe the guy is just really busy right now. But either way, "Don't cry because its over, smile because it happened".

You made me get all teary eyed with that line!! I love it though!!!

Like I said I really like this guy so I'll take whatever time I can get with him. Can't explain my feelings for him cause I don't really understand how you can care so much for someone you have never met or probably never will. I do enjoy all my online friendships, his meaning the most to me and I just felt that he was putting me on the bottom of his list.

Silly me, I bet if he knew I was doubting our friendship he'd probably wanna smack me one! (in a fun way)

Well I'm not crying, but I'm not happy either, the friendship I was worried about is over.

His doing, not mine. Just when you think you know someone.

Now I'm wondering what's wrong with me??

its not you, its the situation. 'virtual friends' usually dont know what the truth is, (hate to sound like a downer but in my and some friends experience 'truth' and 'online' usually dont go hand in hand) as they usually lie about everything ie; age, weight, all physical features, that they are a decent person.....and you dont know the real 'him' so you most likely lucked out with him acting this way now before your feeling got even more deep.

Thanks radish!

I just feel stupid because I never lied about anything, he got to know the real me and I thought I got to know the real him. Yes, this was the first and most important online friendship I made.

Once bitten, twice shy so I think I'm done with online chatting!!

Anyway and life goes on.......
