I seen this "Snail Mail" posted on different sites here in the bowl but do not understand if very well. I know that you have to pay for this service but can someone please tell my fully what it is all about and is it worth paying the $$ for?
Thank you in advance

??

"snail mail" is just the internet lingo for regular mail. They say "snail" because Canada Post takes several days and the internet takes only seconds.

Some contests require you to enter by regular mail, and some people don't have internet access so prefer to enter contests by the mail-in method.

Just to share - darn internet lingo messed me up too Lynda.

Imagine my surprise when I found out that all the "DD" posts I'd seen were NOT postings about the poster and their breasts

"Darling Daughter" makes a whole lot more sense!

Or how about LOL...Laugh Out Loud...my mom thought it was 'Lots of Love' and used it constantly until I told her what it actually meant.

a/s/l = age/sex/location, commonly used in chatrooms when meeting new people, though its frequency of usage has diminished in the Western world over the past five years

"FTW" is the one that got me. Apparently it is "For The Win", a congratulatory message; and "pwnd" ...which isnt even an acronym, but a whole new level of internet lingo!

If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.

FTW confused me at first, because I always knew it as "F**k the World!". It's not exactly a congratulatory message... Consider when you're telling someone when you saw a cat dodge through traffic without getting hit, and your friend response "9 lives FTW!"

"pwned" came out of a typo of "owned", used typically when you're kicking someone's butt in a game. "Man, you sniped that guy again - he got owned!" Also see 0wned, 0wnz0red, and all its derivatives.

Wanting what I've got. Life is good!

I now know what "Snail Mail " is all about and THANK YOU for clearing it up.

Can anyone now tell me is it worth the $$$ paying for someone to enter me in other contest by mail.

I am not sure what you mean. Snailmail contests are usually free except for the cost of a stamp, although some may require a proof of purchase such as a pin number found in product or upc code etc. There are contest clubs across canada which you can join and they keep you informed of snailmail contests so you don't have to search on your own. They charge for their newsletters but usually not a large amount considering the work involved in producing the newsletter and keeping it uptodate. I dont belong to any snailmail club right now and i think people generally have moved more to internet entry, saving on costs of stamps; also it seems that the snailmail contests are less numerous now.

there is a website that used to be free but are now going to a "pay for a year membership" for online contest and you save if you were a "Snail Mail member" before the deadline. To join the Snail Mail it was $25 to join, which I did not.
But you answer my question-It seems that the snailmail contests are less numerous now.
thank you
