I have a Canon S2 1S digital and for some reason the battery connections don't seem to be working - sometimes it powers up or down and sometimes not. Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried cleaning the connections without success and my small town doesn't have anyone who repairs cameras. I paid over $400 for it so don't really want to junk it
I would have that problem if I used a certain type of batteries with my old digital camera. I gave up on rechargable batteries and went with Energizer Ultimate Lithium Batteries. My new camera came with it's own rechargeable battery though so I've been using it.
Sorry I don't know what it could be.

Thanks - wish I could
Actually, reading the links belgiankona sent this appears to be a very common and possibly unfixable problem with this particular camera. Wish I had known that before I spent all that money - even more because I really LIKE the camera!
I really can't see anything wrong with the contacts or anything else - but I have tried a few suggestions from the info in the links (one of them being removing the date/time battery) and this seems to have helped - it at least powers up sometimes now - which is a great improvement over never.
I'll try & borrow a camera to post the pic though - thanks for your help.
