Congratulations, you select an avatar by editing your profile which can be accessed by clicking on the my settings link at the bottom of the page.

You cannot put your picture, you have to choose between the ones that are made available. Edit your profile, and at the bottom you have the avatar option. Choose an avatar, and save your profile. Et Voilà !!!
