I have had a beard all of my adult life, but a couple of weeks ago my kids volunteered to shave it off, since they had never seen me without it (I do shave it off about once a decade to let my face air out...). I will be growing it back shortly because, frankly, I'm still frightened when I look in the mirror -- but what truly scares me is the fact that most guys walk around looking like this all the time...

So my question today is what is your opinion on beards?

(NB: I've divided the vote up into men and women out of curiosity...)

I'm a female, and I dislike beards for the simple fact that I end up looking like someone's taken a scouring pad to my skin after <ahem> "getting it on".

Personally I like beards (preferably goatees), I like the rugged man look My huband goes between a goatee and a beard, I hate it when he shaves either one off.

I was clean shaven for a long time. Went to Mexico for a weeks holidays and forgot a razor, and as well was on vacation so got lazy and didn't shave. gf liked it and has made me keep the goatee since..

I don't like beards. A goatee is okay, but I wouldn't date a guy who had a full beard.

Ditto everyone else. Beard - no, goatee - yes. Hubby has a goatee and I find it sexy. I find it's the same as you, bookhead. When he shaves it off, he looks funny. I think it's because the facial hair elongates the face, and when it's gone his chin is shorter, giving him a strange-looking face. Like a short, fat chin. Ew! Although he was clean shaven when we met (of course, he was 16).

Nope! I think they look scruffy. And all that hair growing down Tom Cruise's neck... yuck.

Well, I think beards or goatees can look just fine, BUT I hate what they do to my skin. My b/f occasionally goes for the "rugged look", which looks fine, but whisker-rub is painfull!!!

I think your gorgeous with it, and can see you just as gorgerous without it. Either way darling!!!

Beard shmeards, it's just a facial feature, doesn't make the person any more attractive to me, it's what they exude from the
inside that gets me going.
