Great site, Jed! Thanks. Another place I thought of to try (though can't guarantee how useful it will be) is www.epinions.com. People submit their thoughts and ideas about the products they have bought, so the info is non-biased and very honest and practical. They also have links to some related stores with the average prices listed. Helps to get some perspective.
Since my sis is due in Sept. I have been looking around for stuff for her (her first). Don't know where you are, but if you are at all close to the US, it may be worth a look. DO NOT BUY CAR SEATS THERE (different safety standards), but some things are way cheap there. I got leather baby shoes at KMart for $1.50 a pair (clearance), and they also have the cutest Sesame Street Baby clothes for dirt cheap (under $5 a set on sale). They aren't gaudy or anything and very tasteful. Some equipment is also cheaper--I almost bought one of those Boppy thingies, though a Fisher Price one, with the play arch, for $16.88 US. I got a ton more stuff there at unbelievable prices. Watch for end of season clearance sales at Fred Meyer (WA State), KMart, Wal Mart and Target. Worth paying the exchange and duty, since they are soooo cheap to begin with.
If you need any more info, don't hesitate to ask--I am becoming a baby expert shopper both online and B&M! (Can ya tell I want one?)
